1922-2007

Charles A. White Jr., MD was born August 1, 1922, of Kenner, LA, and died on April 27, 2007 at the age of 84.  Dr. White graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1943, and joined the military the same year. He initially pursued the study of Veterinary Medicine.  He obtained his DVM degree from Colorado State A&M College in 1945.  Subsequently, he became interested in obstetrics and gynecology during his time practicing as a veterinary medicine practitioner.  He enrolled in the University of Utah and received his MD degree in 1955.  He completed his internship at the Salt Lake County General Hospital in 1956.  After a one-year residency in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah, he worked as a medical officer and was stationed at NAS Miramar in California and USS Pine Island in Western Pacific. In 1961, he completed his residency at the University of Iowa, where he rose up through the ranks and became a full professor in 1970.  He later led the ob-gyn department at West Virginia University in Morgantown, and ended his career in New Orleans.

Dr. White was a Life Fellow of ACOG and served as College vice president in 1991-92. He was a West Virginia Section chair and vice chair in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He was active on several ACOG committees, including those related to the Annual Clinical Meeting. He was very helpful whenever ACOG held its ACM in New Orleans and was looking forward to ACOG’s return to New Orleans for the 2008 ACM.
